Item description
From the Barber Shop and Shoe Shine Memories licensed collection, this Auto Strop Plasma measures 15 inches by 20 inches and weighs in at 3 lb(s). Valet Auto Strop razors were very popular after 1904 when the company was founded. Even more popular today in the collector arena due to the unique die cut wording in the razor blade and their unique advertising pieces. The Valet Razor was one of King Gillette?s major competitors and constantly the two battled in court. Henry J. Gaisman, inventor of the valet auto strop razor invented his razor before King Gillette which caused all the rivalry. Eventually Gaisman went on to become the leader of the Gillette razor company!!! This sign is derived from a pristine original standup Showcard for valet razors about 1930 and die cut to the same outline as the original. This Plasma is hand made in the USA using heavy gauge American steel.
