The piece is finely cast in bronze and hand cold-painted, featuring a naturalistic snail form with excellent detail throughout ? from the textured shell with green and bronze tones to the elongated body and raised feelers with darker painted tips. The modeling, paint application, and subject matter are all consistent with classic Vienna Bronze production. Examples of this quality and style are often associated with the Vienna workshops working in the circle and manner of Franz Bergmann, though this example is unmarked and is being offered as an attributed Vienna Bronze rather than a guaranteed Bergmann work.
