Item description
Poster just a little over 11" x 18" in Excellent condition, I got it at the time. Signed by both Larry Holmes and Eric Esch aka "Butterbean". Absolutely guaranteed and authentic, from the fight at Norfolk Scope which was Holmes' last I believe. There is more to the story than most know.
First thing about Norfolk Scope is that it is a Union Hall and they don't take no grief from nobody. The new Virginia Director of Professional Sports was an official from Tidewater I used to work with, as was the head of security for this Holmes fight and he happened to be a former Green Beret. Holmes walked in, in a very bad mood refusing to wear his ID card, and they threatened to throw him right out of Scope. I suppose he could have bought a ticket. Thirty years before they almost tossed Captain Beefheart (opening for Jethro Tull) and they refused to allow the house lights to be turned down for him ha ha. Don't mess with Scope people.
Holmes got dropped and yes it was a flash knockdown and he clearly won the fight, but overall it was not a great day for him we had to think. That was then but the poster lives on in splendor. Will gently roll for shipping which will come with full insurance.
