National Cash Register 313 Antique Ornate and 34 similar items

A beautifully preserved piece of history, this National cash register model 313 was manufactured approximately 1905-1911 as documentation under the drawer shows bill of sale date as 1911. This push button register features the iconic and intricate Art Nouveau embossed detailed design. Thankfully, the register is both still primarily functional and visually striking. ? Finish - The paperwork on the bottom of the drawer confirms finish to be "C" finished (red brass / bronze). We left the finish as it was when we purchased. ? Keys - Keys required for functional mechanisms are present including the number two key that locks the price amount keys and the reset key that resets the customer counter. The number two key appears to function as designed. We did not test the reset key as you may wish to preserve the historical count or to reset. Unfortunately, the number three key that turns the bell on and off was present when we purchased but sadly when testing for functionality, I accidentally moved it in a way that allowed the lever to fall into the case. So, we believe the number three key is present and was connected (may still be) but is inside the case. The register came with a number one key but we have hopefully temporarily misplaced. We are listing as without this key but if we locate, we will update the listing. If we find after the register sells, we will send to buyer. ? External - The beautiful red brass (bronze with high copper content) embossed design is beautifully in tact. We did not notice any cracks, chips, dents, etc. or signs of being in the elements. All pieces of the bronze main case are present and believed original. The top glass is clear without major fogging, scratching, chips or other such damage and you can clearly see the flags. The top sign is not present but the braces to which the sign would attach are present. The wooden elements are also in wonderful condition having a nice warm glow and sheen with no splits, major scratches or dings, damaged finish like paint or acidic things being spilled, etc. Marble top is believed original as are other main components. There are two very slight edge marks that are minor so do not diminish beauty of the machine. Drawer pull is firmly attached and rosettes attaching the marble are present and in good condition. Note: There may be some after manufacturing finish applied but we are not sure. ? Functionality - We tested the machine thoroughly to confirm that: - All price keys are functioning fully. The keys can be pressed all the way down and return automatically up. No keys are in a middle position. We were unable to show testing of all pricing keys in the video due to video time limit restrictions but all keys do work. We did create a video show all keys functioning that we can try to send you if you require to feel comfortable. - All flags do pop up when the corresponding price key is pressed fully down. No flags are caught at partial positions. All flags show only expected wear for the age of the machine and the fact it was actually used in a retail setting. - The total purchase dollar and cent incremental mechanism is functioning to add amounts when price keys are pressed. - The drawer does automatically slide smoothly out when price keys or No Sale key is pressed and the coil spring is firmly attached. The drawer release button also functions to allow you to remove and replace door for cleaning or maintenance. - The bell make a beautiful ding when price keys or No Sale key is pressed. As mentioned above, right now, the bell is stuck in ON position. Condition: This register is such a beautiful piece and in great pre-owned antique condition with no damage or signs of excessive wear. The machine could use a little cleaning but we were afraid to do too much as we know collectors have different opinions and techniques for the best way to safely clean and different preferences on how to finish.
