The internal power supply in the 1984-1988 Corvette Digital Cluster Instrument Panel Gauge is a common source of failure. Electrolytic capacitors dry out then short, the switching transistor leads break internally, and failed alternators and 24V jump starts cause over-voltage which destroys the supply.
This is a completely redesigned, NEW, modern power supply which is an exact replacement for the factory power supply. This power supply was designed for maximum efficiency, which means less power dissipated inside the digital cluster. It is made with modern low-mass surface mount components to minimize the effects of vibration and maximize reliability.
