Item description
OSCAR WILDE:
His Life and Wit.
by Hesketh Pearson.
New York: Harper Brothers Publishers, (1946).
First edition, first printing.
"First edition" statement and codes 6-6 and E-V to the copyright page.
Illustrated with thirteen photographs on black-and-white plates.
A well-depicted life and career portrait of the playwright and literary wit.
Some age-toning to the inner hinge areas as usual, corner tips lightly bumped, else near fine in blue linen with embossed gilt paneled decorations, titles, and rules to the spine, blind embossed publisher's insignia to the front cover, deckle page fore-edges; in a supplied, home-made, threaded tan dust jacket with applied blue titles to the front panel and to the spine panel.
The folksy dust jacket has done a nice job in protecting and preserving the book.
Octavo, 9.6" X 6.5"; 345 pages; authorities; index.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear, removable protective sleeve after photographing for this entry.
