This is a Whiting Davis metal mesh evening bag, a brand renowned for its innovative ?flat armor? or ring mesh construction, patented in 1909 by the Massachusetts-based company founded in 1876. The colorful beaded pattern (yellow, white, blue, black , white and others) and ornate frame with a kiss-lock clasp and chain strap align with their designs from the 1920s to 1930s, a peak period during the Art Deco era. Whiting Davis bags were celebrated for their durability and elegance, often used as formal accessories by flappers and high-society women. The scalloped edge and intricate beadwork suggest it could be from their classic line, possibly a collector?s piece!
