BI Tetradrachm. Antioch mint. Rare Fourth Consulate, Struck AD 249.
28mm 11.59gm (Larger than a U.S. Quarter which is 24mm and only 5.7gm).
Obverse: AVTOK K M IOY?I ?I?I??OC C?B, radiate (crowned), cuirassed bust right; seen from the front.
Reverse: ?HMAPX ??OVCIAC V?ATO ?, ANTIOXIA / SC, eagle standing right, holding wreath in beak, with wings spread.
Ref. Prieur 448. VF, typical minor porosity--much nicer in hand as images truly need to be redone. Scarce ~ Only 22 in Prieur

the 1st Christian Empress), an assertion which is indeed supported by some of his actions
made more likely as he came from an area where large numbers of Christians were
found-born in small Arabian town called Shahba (El-Leja in southwest Syria)--hence, the nickname "the Arab", 45 miles southeast of
Damascus in Trachonitis.
