Item description
SPANAM, INDIAN WARS, U.S. ARMY, COLLAR BUTTON, SHARPSHOOTER, MASSACHUSETTS, MVM
Many militia organizations allowed highly qualified shooters to wear collar buttons in the shape of this sharpshooter?s cross. In the Massachusetts militia, for example, qualified officers could wear this cross with black enamels, while distinguished marksmen wore these same crosses in red enamels. This Sharpshooter button has a single tine or staple like prong that could be inserted through the collar and then bent over. Nice original, seldom seen!
