Publisher's first edition seal to the copyright page, $2.00 to the jacket's flap.
Set in a midwestern town during an annual fair, featuring book salesman and sleuth Johnny Fletcher and his muscular stooge pal Sam Cragg.
The second novel by the western, very hard-boiled, pulp, and mystery author of the Tommy Ralls series, TV scriptwriter, and screenwriter of numerous successful films including 'The French Key' and 'The Mask of Dimitrios'.
A vintage collectible.
Purple rental rates rubber-stamped to the upper front end-paper, end-papers age-toning as usual, slight rub-wear to the upper and lower spine edges and corner tips, else about very good in gray linen with plum embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine; in a good only dust jacket with rubs and very short tears to the shelf-edges, nicks, rubs and tears to the front flap-fold, large piece missing from the upper and lower spine panel, tears, separations and chips to the spine folds; original printed $2.00 price still intact to the front inner flap, author photo to the rear flap.
The jacket will be placed in a clear, removable protective sleeve, after photographing for this entry.
