Item description
This vintage postcard features a stunning lithograph image of the Ballroom of "The Elms," a magnificent mansion located on Bellevue Avenue in Newport, Rhode Island. The image captures the elegant interior with its ornate crystal chandelier, elaborately carved Louis XV-style furniture, and intricate wall moldings, showcasing the opulence of early 20th-century American Gilded Age architecture. The large gilt mirror above the marble fireplace and the rich brocade drapes add to the luxurious ambiance.
Published by John T. Hopf, this original color lithograph postcard is a wonderful collectible for lovers of historical architecture, Newport history, or vintage postcards. The reverse side includes detailed information about The Elms, noting its construction in 1901 for Edward J. Berwind and its preservation by the Newport Preservation Society. Measuring a continental size of 6 x 4 inches, this postcard is unposted and retains its original scalloped edges, enhancing its classic appeal.
