Item description
MY OWN CAPE COD
By Gladys Taber.
Philadelphia: J.B. Lippincott Company, (1971).
First edition; first printing.
"First edition" statement to the copyright page, $5.95 and date code 071 to the jacket's flap.
Generously illustrated with full-page captioned photographs by John Schram.
A detailed, nature-loving memoir, sectioned into four seasons, of Ms. Taber's life, and observations of home, culture, events, people, nature, plants, the sea, the beach, seafood, and more from her house at Still Cove, on the Cape.
Taber, a
prolific author whose
output included plays, essays, memoirs, cookbooks, and fiction,
is best remembered for her series of books and columns about
her life at Stillmeadow farmhouse in Connecticut, and at Still Cove in Massachusetts.
An unusually well preserved first printing collectible.
Fine, square, tight and firm in blue linen with gilt embossed titles to the spine, threaded green end-papers; in a near fine dust jacket with a very short creased tear to the lower edge of the front panel, a hint of fading to the spine panel, and minute rubs to the upper and lower spine edges.
Octavo; 251 pages.
