Item description
This vintage postcard features a beautifully colored lithograph image of Christ Church located on St. Simons Island, Georgia. The church, a historic landmark, was established in 1736 by John and Charles Wesley, founders of Methodism in America. The current building shown on the postcard was constructed in 1884 by Anson Green Phelps Dodge Jr. as a memorial to his wife, Ellen Ada Phelps Dodge. The postcard captures the charming white church with its steeply pitched roof and tall spire topped by a cross, surrounded by lush greenery and mature trees, emphasizing its serene and timeless appeal.
Printed by Dexter Press, Inc., West Nyack, New York, this postcard is part of the Marsh Post Card Service collection based in Jacksonville, Florida. The postcard is standard size (5.5 x 3.5 inches) and boasts a glossy chrome finish, enhancing the vivid and rich colors of the scene. A perfect collectible for those interested in historic American churches, Southern landmarks, or vintage postcards from the mid-20th century, this postcard offers both aesthetic charm and historical significance.
