?About Madama Akoya Pearls: Japanese Madama Akoya pearls are a distinctive series of saltwater Akoya pearls celebrated for their stunning silver-grey to blue hues. These naturally cultured gems typically range from 6 to 9mm in size. Pearls under 5mm or over 9mm are extremely rare and highly valued. Silver-grey-blue tones are already rarer than the classic white Akoya, and often show more natural imperfections. Thus, high-quality Madama Akoya pearls are exceptionally scarce and prized—reflected in both rarity and pricing.
Their cool, metallic tones convey a sense of mystery and avant-garde elegance, making them a sought-after choice for those who appreciate unique natural colour. This rarity and visual intrigue have led to a consistent rise in their value in recent years.?
?Product Description?
Natural Silver-Peacock Green Hue,
Enchanting Pink Overtone,
Original Piece from Japan's International Jewellery Show!
Akoya pearls, grown from Pinctada fucata oysters, were first cultivated in Japan and have represented refined beauty since the 1920s, remaining consistently popular with steadily rising market value.
This pendant necklace features a breathtakingly rare colour variant of Japanese Madama Akoya pearl—a mesmerising silver peacock-green gem that forms the heart of this original Japanese piece, sourced directly from the International Jewellery Exhibition in Japan. Over the past year, I was only able to acquire a small handful of such finished pieces, all carefully selected and purchased on site in Japan. Their rarity of tone and uniqueness of design have made them highly sought after among collectors and pearl enthusiasts alike.
Measuring approximately 7.9mm, this pearl—close to 8mm size—sits at the larger end of the typical 6–9mm range for Akoya pearls. It displays the signature cool-toned glow of the Madama series, with a rare and captivating blend of natural silver and peacock green. What makes it even more enchanting is the presence of soft gradient pink overtones that intertwine with the alluring peacock green, creating a layered, almost iridescent depth that shifts gently with the light. This singular colour combination is nature’s own artistry—impossible to replicate and truly one of a kind. Entirely natural and untreated, without any artificial colouring, it preserves the authentic beauty of pearls cultivated in the coastal waters of Japan.
Visually, the pearl appears perfectly round, with a smooth and almost blemish-free surface—free from pits or bumps. This exceptional cleanliness enhances the pearl’s ability to catch and reflect light, giving rise to a remarkably high, mirror-like lustre. The brilliance is so intense that it even so bright it can even challenge the camera’s focus, while its crystal-clear glow echoes the sparkle of the knot design’s zircon accents, evoking the serene beauty of a celadon lake under moonlight. This interplay lends the piece a quietly enchanting allure. Across all categories of pearls, it is well recognised that the greener the tone, the rarer and more collectible the specimen—further underscoring the desirability and long-term value of this exceptional jewel.

This necklace is a fully assembled Japanese Madama Akoya pearl set, sourced directly as a finished piece from the Japan International Jewellery Exhibition. It is crafted in S925 sterling silver with sparkling cubic zirconia accents, with both the chain clasp and pendant back stamped to confirm authenticity. Unlike many flimsy imitations on the market, the chain is noticeably solid and well-constructed, offering durability as well as elegance.
The pendant design features a graceful knot-like motif, where two slender silver ribbons intersect and curve naturally, pavé-set with glittering CZ stones that catch the light without overwhelming the pearl. The knot creates a sense of movement and fluidity, leading the eye down to the suspended Akoya pearl. This thoughtful structure balances refinement with subtle brilliance, adding dimension and elegance from every angle.
As a finished Japanese piece, it retains a clean, polished aesthetic—timeless yet versatile. Suitable for both daily wear and special occasions, this necklace makes a meaningful gift or a refined addition to one’s personal jewellery collection.
Your purchase comes complete with a complimentary jewellery box, perfect for gift-giving or safekeeping this treasure.
At this summer’s Japan International Jewellery Exhibition, the price of Akoya pearls rose once again, along with the cost of fittings and overall production. The earlier you purchase, the better the value. Pearl jewellery remains a timeless investment—enduring in beauty and steadily increasing in worth.

?Important Information for Buyers?:
1) Pearls are natural organic gemstones. Their formation process, taking place in nature, cannot be controlled by human intervention, meaning that the surface of pearls may exhibit some natural imperfections (growth lines, marks, small pits). This is a completely normal occurrence. Please understand that the level of these natural flaws directly impacts the price of the pearl – my pursuit is always the highest quality within each price range.
Each piece of pearl jewellery at StarlitPearls has been carefully selected with the utmost attention to detail. While I strive to capture the natural imperfections of the pearls in photos, sometimes the lustrous glow may conceal certain blemishes, making them less visible in pictures. I always aim to provide a clear and accurate description of the quality and characteristics in each product listing. However, please understand that quality is often reflected in the price, and achieving a flawless appearance may require a higher budget – my pursuit is always the highest quality within each price range.
Thank you for your understanding and acceptance of the unique, albeit imperfect, characteristics of natural pearls, and I invite you to treasure this unique beauty.
2) StarlitPearlsUK offers a 14-day return policy for all products, no questions asked. However, unless there are issues with the quality of the product, the cost of shipping will be borne by the buyer.
? Natural imperfections on the surface of pearls are a part of their organic nature and are not considered quality issues.
? Any discrepancies in colour between the product photos and the actual product due to lighting during photography or differences in monitor displays do not constitute quality issues.
? Oxidation of silver accessories in the jewellery is not a quality issue. This can easily be removed with a silver polishing cloth.
? When returning products, it is imperative that the tags remain attached to the items. Returns will not be processed and refunds will not be issued if the tags have been removed from the products.
? Please ensure the integrity of the product when returning it, including all accompanying items such as the jewellery box, any free gifts, and the silver polishing cloth.
?When returning the product, please ensure that it remains in good condition without signs of wear, damage, discolouration, or any strong odours.
?Products must be returned within 14 days from the date of receipt, with the postage date used to determine compliance with this policy.
?Refusal of delivery, incorrect address, being on vacation, or not collecting the item (which is treated as refusal of delivery) are not covered under the shop's return policy. If a package is returned under these circumstances, refunds will not be issued. If extenuating circumstances are unavoidable, I kindly request that you contact me in advance.
? Buyers are responsible for any customs and import taxes that may apply. Delays due to customs are beyond the shop's control. Responsibility cannot be assumed for items marked as delivered but later claimed by the buyer to have been lost or stolen post-delivery.
3) Pearl Jewellery Care Tips:
? Gentle Care: Pearls are delicate gems that require careful handling. Avoid contact with chemicals, including hairspray, perfume, and cosmetics, as they can damage the pearl's surface. It's also recommended to remove your pearls when sleeping, bathing, or washing your face to prevent potential damage.
? Cleaning: Clean your pearl jewellery with a soft, damp cloth after each wear. This helps to remove any body oils or residue that may have accumulated. Never use harsh or abrasive cleaners, as they can scratch the pearl's surface.
? Storage: Always store pearls separately from other jewellery to prevent scratches. A soft pouch or a separate compartment in your jewellery box is ideal.
? Last on, First off: Make pearls the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. This helps to limit their exposure to damaging elements and substances.
Remember, with proper care, your pearls can last a lifetime and even be passed down as a treasured heirloom. Treat them kindly and they will continue to bring you joy for many years to come.
