Item description
Tim Raines Expos Baseball Card 1983 Topps No. 595 - Excellent Condition, See Photos ... Includes FREE SHIPPING. Note sports memorabilia market hit $16 billion in 2023. Projections indicate it will reach $52 billion by 2032, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 14% during the forecast period (2024-2032).
Tim Raines electrifying speed and consistent offensive production made him an icon for the Montreal Expos throughout the 1980s. Drafted by the Expos in 1977, Raines quickly became a fan favorite, dazzling with his aggressiveness on the basepaths. In his strike-shortened 1981 rookie season, he set a new MLB rookie record with 71 stolen bases while batting .304, earning his first of seven consecutive All-Star selections. "Rock" led the league in stolen bases for four straight years (1981-1984) and set a franchise record with 133 runs scored in 1983. His 1986 campaign saw him win the National League batting title with a .334 average. Despite the Expos struggles to consistently contend, Raines consistently delivered, including a legendary return in 1987 after a collusion-affected free agency period, where he hit a grand slam in his first game back. His impact on the Expos was undeniable, as he holds franchise records for steals, singles, triples, and walks, solidifying his legacy as one of the greatest leadoff hitters in baseball history and a beloved figure in Montreal before his well-deserved induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017.
