Item description
RARE AND COMPLETE WITH GREEN SHADE
Man cave special
Works 100% both the light , the pull cord and the slider on the brown cord all work
Shortly after the turn of the 20th century, many American homes were still lit by dim kerosene lamps. When the first electric wires were strung out to these homes, the installing electrician ran single-conductor, asphalt-insulated wires. "State-of-the-art" back then was comprised of ceramic "knob-and-tube" insulator fittings, and the hand-cranked "brace and bit" was a mainstay tool. Oftentimes, only one electrical outlet per room was allowed, and this was usually used for lighting purposes.
Along came the electric company's wooden-spoke-wheeled truck, a curious little electric meter was installed, and one more American household came to marvel at the burgeoning "Age of Electricity".
Original Westinghouse Electric Company meters from this early period and incorporated their restoration into a banker-style lamp, the model OB-BA "Metropolitan". It features a classic green glass reflector and a solid brass socket assembly with a brass pull chain and solid brass ball. As with our other OB-series products, proud to offer this special creations to customers who will thrill at owning their own original piece of beautifully-restored, yet still operational early electrical technology.
This is an antique Westinghouse electric meter from the 1920s that has been repurposed into a lamp. The GREEN HUGH light emitted adds a vintage touch to any room. This unique piece was likely awarded in the 1970s for its historical significance and is a true collector's item. The brown cord complements the overall design, and the A+ energy rating ensures efficiency despite its age. This lamp is a one-of-a-kind conversation piece that combines history and functionality in a tasteful manner.
