"One of the previous reviewers gave this book two stars, and as a result I almost chose not to purchase it. The reviewer's claims are: 1- By reading the book jacket, you really are given the plot of the novel and 2- Parts of the book take place in Ohio (U.S.A.), and the Swedish authors apparently have no feel whatsoever for Ohio. While I respect the reviewer's right to his opinion, I also respect my own right to seriously disagree. I hope that that review will not put off other potential readers. A book is more than a plot. While the plot is indeed the story line, it depends on how it is written. Just like the oft given advice of "how to tell a joke", how to plot a plot is essential to reader satisfaction and pleasure or dissatisfaction and disappointment. The narrative weaved by the authors of Cell 8 is done extremely well, taking seemingly unrelated incidents and characters and bringing them closer and closer together in a plot which forms a beautiful tapestry at the end. And "weave" is in fact an apt verb here as the plot goes backwards and forwards in time, and from side to side in character development, leaving the reader in the end with the feeling that he wouldn't have wished to read any other book in its place. This is the second novel I have read by the authors and will surely read many others in the future."
