Notes: Minor shelf wear, light creasing to covers, binding tight, pages clean and unmarked. Bird's Eye View tells the story of a pioneer community om the Manatee River in western central Florida. This biographical fiction, narrated by an owl, blends in historical truths as it winds its way through time in a place called Manatee County. In a sometimes-whimsical fashion, Owl tells of the people who walk below his perch in the trees along with a local boy he follows through the settlement. As you read about the events he sees, you will become enthralled with this village. In this charming tale, enjoyed by adults and children alike, the boy and owl grow together, entwined with the real history of a place and its people. Authors, Trudy Williams and Melissa Harlander, began their long relationship as neighbors of the historic neighborhood, Manatee, which is today's east Bradenton, Florida. Melissa and Trudy each raised four children. As historians, they were founding members of Reflections of Manatee, Inc, a historic non-profit preserving the area around the Manatee Mineral Spring. They began compiling the genealogy of the community and placed it on-line at Ancestry.com as Manatee Pioneer Families under Trudy Williams' trees. Finding that these histories were so interesting and believing they warranted something more, Bird's Eye View was created to tell the pioneer's story. Their second book, My Sweets, continues the history of the community, following the boy and owl through time. Includes reference, source and research information section in the back.
