Item description
Sent by Ruslania.com promptly from Helsinki, Finland.Description:"Edith" is a novel by written by Ernst Brunner. The book is dedicated to the Finnish-Swedish poetess of the early 20th century Edith Sodergran (1892-1923).
A native of St. Petersburg, she wrote poetry in Swedish and spent her creative life in a small Karelian village, Raivola, on the territory of the Grand Duchy of Finland, where she published her poetry.
The short life of Edith Sodergran and her becoming as a later glorified expressionist poet coincided with dramatic events in Russia and the world, which is clearly reflected by the author in the novel.
The publication is illustrated with unique photographs, most of which were taken by Edith Sodergran herself, a passionate photographer. This original visual part of the novel immerses the reader in the atmosphere of the era, acquaints the reader more closely with the life of the poetess and her environment.
The book will undoubtedly attract the attention of all those interested in Swedish literature and world poetry, European history and culture of the early 20th century.
The book is the first publication of the translation of that book into Russian language.
Translated from Swedish by L. Sazonova
