Item description
THE HATTER'S PHANTOMS
By Georges [Joseph Christian] Simenon.
Translated from French to English by Willard R. Trask.
New York: A Helen and Kurt Wolff Book, Harcourt, Brace World, Inc., (1976).
First U.S. edition, SECOND printing.
"First edition" statement and second printing letter code sequence B through E to the copyright page.
Originally published in French in 1949, and here translated to English for the first time, this suspenseful mystery dealing with a serial killer, set in a well-depicted and charactered small town is one of Simenon's proclaimed "Romans Durs" translated as "Hard Novels".
A vintage first edition in nice collectible condition.
A hint of age-toning to the cover's edges as usual, else fine and very tight in polished cream boards with blue and plum embossed titles to the spine; in a very nearly fine dust jacket with art by Paul Bacon, with plum and blue spine panel titles still bright; original printed $6.95 price still intact to the front inner flap; nice author photo by Jill Krementz to the rear inner flap.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear protective, removable sleeve after photographing for this entry.
