Item description
REST AND BE THANKFUL
By Helen MacInnes.
Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1949.
First edition, first printing.
"First edition, Published August 1949" statement to the copyright page, 1949 to the title page, $3.00 to the jacket's flap.
SIGNED to the blank page following the copyright page, by the Scottish-American author of the film adapted novels ABOVE SUSPICION, ASSIGNMENT IN BRITTANY, and THE SALZBURG CONNECTION.
The author's first novel set in America features two traveling, foreign young ladies in 1948, who discover the value of a good life on a ranch island with cowboys, high in the Wyoming hills.
A charming, and now, historical novel.
Quite elusive SIGNED.
Faint damp stains to the covers, else very good in khaki linen with burgundy ranch house scene to the front cover, burgundy titles and borders to the spine; in a very good dust jacket with evocative Wyoming scene art by Charles V. John, with chips to the upper and lower spine ends, a small white triangular surface scar to the front panel that also shows a small chip and tear to its upper edge, age-toning to the spine panel, some tan damp-stain lines to the rear panel.
The dust jacket will be placed in a clear, protective, removable sleeve after photographing for this entry.
