The Publisher and Editor of the News granted permission to the author to publish the stories in this book. The permission was renewed in 1929. Howard R. Garis (1873 - 1962) Howard Roger Garis was an American author of children's stories. He was best known for a series of books that featured the character of Uncle Wiggily Longears, an engaging elderly rabbit. Platt Munk was an early publisher of children's books and known for their bright, long-lasting colors in the illustrations. Condition is Excellent, especially for a Vintage find. Hardcover is brightly colored and shows only slight wear on corners. Pages are tight, with no frays or marks other than previous owners name, dated 1949 inside cover.
