Item description
From the jacket flap--"for it's hundreds of remarkable photographs brought together from dozens of collections throughout the state and else where. Whether taken by professionals, amateurs, or 'unknowns' they project an unforgettable image of Vermont when the enduring Vermont mold was being cast. The time span is, roughly from 1860 to 1927."
1974, oversize hardcover edition, Stephen Greene Press, VT. 145 pages. Marvelous trip into the past, covering the years between 1860 and 1927 in Vermont. This title was a 4-year-long project of the Vermont Historical Society and other entities. The black and white photos are wonderful, with informed captions. We have: miners / businesses / families / rail lines / city streets / and even a balloon or two. Fascinating look into the rural past.
