Item description
? Up for sale: one Rhus Aromatica ‘Konza’ (Dwarf Fragrant Sumac) plant, well-rooted and 6-12 inches tall. During winter, plants are sent bare-root, while in summer, they are sent in a pot with soil. Hardy in zones 3-8.
? The Konza Sumac is a compact version of the Fragrant Sumac, growing up to 2 feet tall and spreading 6 feet wide. This deciduous shrub features fragrant, glossy blue-green foliage that transforms into vibrant shades of orange, red, purple, and yellow in fall. In spring, it produces yellow flowers followed by dark-red berries, which persist through summer and winter. Butterflies are attracted to the nectar, while birds like robins, sparrows, goldfinches, and chickadees enjoy the berries. The berries are also edible—soak them for a tart, lemonade-like drink or grind them into a powder for use in baking.
? This hardy shrub thrives in various soil types, is drought-tolerant, and is generally pest and disease-free. It grows quickly, enjoys full sun to partial shade, and naturally forms thickets through suckering. Colonies are often single-sexed, with only female plants producing flowers and berries. Ideal for erosion control, embankment stabilization, and filling tough-to-cover areas with poor soil.
? If temperatures in your area or along the shipping route are too cold, we will delay mailing your order until we have at least four consecutive days above freezing to prevent damage during transit.
? Your order will arrive in good condition. If any issues occur during transit, contact us the same day with a detailed description and photos so we can assist you.
