Item description
Nude Nymph Mermaid Art Nouveau Georges van de Voorde Metal Planter Jardiniere. Absolutely stunning! This is a beautiful flowing art nouveau planter showing a nude lady, a mermaid, a swan and what I believe to be Zeus?s face on the side. It measures approximately 18 inches wide by 11.25 inches high and 9 inches deep. Weighs approx.12lbs. Not sure whether this is copper or some kind of brass but it does have a removable metal insert where a plant or other item could be displayed. Stamped Van de Voorde. I believe this was made between 1890 and 1910. Shows wear consistent with age. The mermaid in the back has a replacement oar made out of a gray metal. Not sure what the original piece that went there was. Please see all photos for full condition.
