Pre-viewed for quality and played fine on my Emerson vcr. Cassette is nice and clean with a foil security sticker on the right corner assuring you of first generation quality. Box has been cut and mounted a bit crookedly in a white, hard plastic display case which has barely visible 'HOR' in yellow marker on the bottom. In Medieval Italy, Prince Prospero (Vincent Price) is preparing his masquerade ball, a Satanic gathering which serves as a feast for his wealthy decadents and a chance to throw bones to the grovelling local peasantry. While visiting an impoverished Christian encampment, Prospero is unsuccessfully attacked by Gino and Ludovico, respectively the lover and father of Francesca (Jane Asher), a red-haired simpleton who begs his forgiveness. The plaugue known as the Red Death is discovered nearby, and Prospero flees back behind the stone battlements of his castle--taking Francesca, Gino and Ludovico with him, determined that the innocent girl choose which man should be put to death for their disloyalty. Francesca is an instant hit with Prospero's evil consorts, but not with his mistress Juliana (Hazel Court), an older but no less beautiful red-head, who decides to endear herself to her Prince by going ahead with the Satanic wedding she has postponed for so long. As Prospero's masked guests stage elaborate orgies within the castle, the Red Death reigns outside, and Juliana brands her breast with an inverted cross, asking that a demon be sent to her... Based on a story by Edgar Allen Poe.
