Item description
Beautifully well made Sterling and Enamel Butterfly pin/brooch. Marked Germany Sterling and M-Be for Maison Behar Co of NY. Maison Behar was an importer of German jewelry.
One of the German companies used was Murrle, Bennett Co LTD which operated from 1884-1916. They did many Art Nouveau butterflies and based on similar items from The British Museum that highlights importers of jewelry to England, this might very well be a Murrle, Bennett piece.
Butterfly is approximately 1.5 inches X 1 inch. The enameling is truly a masterful job.
