Item description
Triple bill of classic Westerns. Sergio Leone's classic spaghetti western 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' (1966) forms the final part of the trilogy that brought Clint Eastwood to Hollywood's attention. During the American Civil War, the paths of three loners - Joe (Eastwood), Tuco (Eli Wallach) and Setenza (Lee Van Cleef) - cross as they search for the grave of Bill Carson, home to a hidden fortune. As the war intensifies, the treasure seekers become drawn into a battle that dwarfs their own mercenary pursuits. In 'The Magnificent Seven' (1960), a small Mexican village, terrorised by the cutthroat Calvera (Eli Wallach) and his bandits, hires a team of seven mercenaries to expel the vile interloper. The seven are led by Chris (Yul Brynner), and they set about the job of training the terrified townfolk in the art of killing before meting out their own brand of justice. Director John Sturges' re-make of Akira Kurosawa's 'The Seven Samurai' cemented star-like qualities on most of its cast, including James Coburn, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson and Robert Vaughn. John Wayne directs and stars in 'The Alamo' (1960), an epic, Oscar-nominated treatment of events at the Alamo in 1836. A group of 187 Americans, led by Colonels William Travis (Laurence Harvey), Davey Crockett (Wayne) and Jim Bowie (Richard Widmark) battle to hold off Santa Anna's army of 7,000. Wayne's friend and colleague John Ford directed the second unit, without a credit. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
