Collection of contemporary romantic comedies. In 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001), Bridget (Renee Zellweger) is the 1990s British everywoman: single, weight-obsessed, and very probably drunk on mid-price white wine. Her life goes from middling to worse when she embarks on a doomed affair with silver-tongued boss Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). In the background lurks a literal Mr Darcy (Colin Firth), a seemingly cold lawyer who keeps crossing Bridget's path but whose precise intentions are hard for her to divine. All the while Bridget records her lurches across life's highway in the eponymous diary, as an attempt to take control of her tragi-comic life. In 'Notting Hill' (1999), Anna Scott (Julia Roberts) is the world's most famous movie star, whilst the divorced William Thacker (Hugh Grant) owns an ailing travel bookstore in his local neighbourhood of Notting Hill. One day Anna buys a book from William's shop and later collides messily with him on a street corner. She accompanies him home to clean herself up, and from there springs an unlikely romance. However, the path of true love is littered with obstacles, not least the media, the adoring fans and the differences in their lifestyles. In 'Sleepless in Seattle' (1993), Sam Baldwin (Tom Hanks) has lost his wife to cancer and, left to bring up his son alone, tries to make a new start by moving to Seattle. His son turns him into a radio heartthrob, however, when he makes an on-air appeal to potential partners for his grief-stricken father. Annie Reed (Meg Ryan), despite being happily betrothed, answers the call, and romance blossoms between the two people, despite the fact that they live on different sides of the country. In 'My Best Friend's Wedding' (1997), Julianne Potter (Julia Roberts) has just realised that she is in love with her best friend Michael O'Neal (Dermot Mulroney), but there's a problem: Michael has recently announced his up-coming marriage to the hare-brained Kimmy (Cameron Diaz). Enlisting the help of her gay friend George Downes (Rupert Everett), Julianne resolves to sabotage Michael's big day and win him back for herself. But when Kimmy turns out to be such a kind and likeable person, Julianne wonders if she's doing the right thing after all. Finally, in 'The Break Up' (2006), when Brooke (Jennifer Aniston) breaks up with her insensitive boyfriend Gary (Vince Vaughn), neither of them is willing to move out of their apartment. As each of them takes advice from their friends, they decide to start using a series of mind games and strategies to try and force the other to leave, but before long they discover that they might just be fighting to keep their relationship alive. Jon Favreau and Vincent D'Onofrio also star. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
