Two BBC television adaptations of classic works by Oscar Wilde. In 'The Importance of Being Earnest' (1988), Jack Worthing (Paul McGann) invents an imaginary brother as an excuse to bow out of a dull weekend in the country so he can spend the time in London. Meanwhile, Algernon Moncrieff (Rupert Frazer) invents an imaginary friend to provide him with the excuse to escape his dull home in the city so he can attend a country house party. However, the two young men find that their romantic interests are threatened when their deceptions inevitably cross paths. 'The Picture of Dorian Gray' (1976) sees Peter Firth playing the dissolute aristocrat, a young man who gradually sinks into a life of moral degradation and petty crime, retaining an untouched appearance despite his sins while his portrait becomes ever more stained and grotesque. Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
