Francois Pierre Guillaume Gizot (1787-1874) was a French political figure, historian, and philosopher. Konstantin Konstantinovich Arsenyev (1837-1919) was a writer, social and zemstvo activist, and lawyer. Honorary academician in the field of literary arts of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1900). Nikolai Pavlovich Barsov (1839-1889) was a historian and one of the founders of Russian historical geography. Nikolai Alexandrovich Astafyev (1825-1906) was a historian, educator, and Christian writer. "History of Civilization in Europe from the Fall of the Roman Empire to the French Revolution" by the classic French historian Francois Gizot became a significant event in the scientific and social life of Europe and America.
