The clock and compass bezels, and the inset hinges are crafted from solid brass with a rich gold plating. The clock features a highly accurate battery operated Japanese quartz movement (battery included), with a fully functional magnetic compass is inset into the mahogany base. The clock compass is 2 7/8 inches (7.3 cm) tall with the lid closed, 3 1/2 inches (8.6 cm) square, and weighs a solid 14.5 ounces (410 grams).
