A young boy and girl are shown standing on the shor, with a Viking ship in the background. The boy is carrying a swords and shield; the girl is playing a lur (also lure or lurr), a distinctive northern European instrument that dates back 3000 years. This is the 36th plate in the series and is designed by artist Sven Vestergaard. The scene is molded into the porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze.
