Item description
A DREAM OF FUJI
By Arthemise Goertz.
New York: McGraw-Hill Book Company, Inc., (1958).
First edition, first printing.
"First edition" statement to the title page.
Goertz, a New Orleans author spent many years living in Japan, including the years after Pearl Harbor when she and her mother were prisoners of war there.
This suspenseful historical novel draws on her own experiences, featuring an American teacher in Japan beginning in December 1941, with a wide assortment of other declared enemy aliens, all seeking to survive, many looking to escape, two who seek her love.
Small remainder dot stamped to the upper corner of the front end-paper, upper spine edge lightly crimped, else very nearly fine, firm, square, and tight in polished orange over wavy green striped boards with black embossed titles to the spine; in a very nearly fine dust jacket with a touch of rubbing, and with some tiny shelf-edge tears; original printed $4.50 price still intact to the front inner flap.
