Brand new factory sealed dvd that few have seen due to poor marketing. The title alone is surely a death sentence. Ties with Disney's 'John Carter' for worse title. ABIGAIL is a young girl living in a town, which many years earlier, experienced an epidemic of a mysterious illness and was subsequently sealed off from the outside world. One of those that fell ill was her father, taken away from her at the tender age of six. While searching for her father, Abby discovers that the 'scamdemic' never actually occured; it was all a huge hoax (sound familiar?). The truth is, she lives in a world of magic. Her city has been seized by users of dark magic, who wiped out all other sorcerers, banned magic, and attempted to erase all traces of it from existence. The pandemic was a ploy used to "cleanse" the city of Magic. For years the Special Department would snatch anyone who appears to have magical powers by deeming them "infected". Abby soon discovers that magic powers are stirring inside her, scared she tries to suppress them but the Special Department takes notice and begins to hunt for her. She flees her home and begins a journey of adventure and danger which completely transforms her perceptions about magic and the world in which she lives. This is a Russian film dubbed in English, some critics say that something was lost in the translation and were confused. I say most American films have the mentality of a snowpea so were not used to anything as sophisticated as foreign films can be. The special effects in this film are as good as any and I would say that the software being used is probably the same as American films are using.
