#8 in the Tom Swift Jr. series. Grosset and Dunlap hardcover publication. Copyright 1956. Printed around 1962. Author "Victor Appleton II." Victor Appleton the first was the Stratemeyer Syndicate pen name for the initial Tom Swift series.
Blue and white space lab endpapers. Front pages titles list and rear cover list to #20 Megascope Space Prober (1962).
Very good spine and hinges, very minimal corner bumping. Clean, beautiful book.
In this one, Tom takes his flying lab to deal with a mysterious gas that dissolves matter, found in a mountain, requiring him to develop the terrasphere vehicle to explore caves in rough terrain.
