Rare and extremely beautiful authentic Georgian Riviere necklace! (it was made in Europe -possible French). crafted in solid approx 14k yellow gold and set with natural clean amethysts of saturated color and natural rose cut diamonds! the diamonds set in silver - middle part of the necklace and all amethysts set in solid yellow gold. Silver only where the diamonds are. all of the necklace made of solid gold and only where the diamonds are - is silver. the amethysts in the middle part set in solid gold too! so the middle diamond part - made of silver and solid gold as well. in that Era diamonds often were set in silver if the master-jeweler wanted diamonds to be in white metal (only white diamonds were set in white metal; yellowish would be set in yellow gold to hide this tint!). so because white gold was discovered in 1920ss, before that period diamonds were set in silver or platinum. the clasp works well and original to the necklace! in excellent antique condition with no problems! please see photos as for description. as you can see the middle part is very substantial - about 5 cm long!! - please see photo next to a ruler. and the diamonds too! the amethysts are approx 9.8x7.8mm each. in the middle part 12mm and 10.4mm. the diamonds are rose cut so it is hard to give the Carat weight. but please see sizes in mm - 2 biggest diamonds and ?eye? rose cut are 5x3mm 4 eye rose cuts are approx 3.5x2.5mm 10 round rose cut ones approx 2.5 mm each 2 old cuts are 2.5mm each 4old cuts -1.7mm each 8 eye rose cuts 2.7x1.5mm each and approx 10+ small ones approx length when clasped 14?. chokers were in fashion during that Era and also people were smaller. it possible to add small chains at the back before clasp to make it longer if desired (any jeweler can do). fast Priority USA shipping. fast international if needed. smoke free environment, will arrive in jewelry case and can be gifted immediately! thank you!
