Item description
This listing features a Victorian RPPC Postcard with a famous painting of a full-length portrait of Diana Crosbie, Countess Glandore. Diana is seen standing, looking forward and seemingly in mid-movement as if walking through the scene. She is holding onto her dress with her right hand as her left is outstretched to the right. A rolling landscape can be seen to the right, with trees to the left. Diana's hair is up, secured loosely with ribbons and pearls, locks of loose hair falling over her shoulders.
Diana Crosbie (nรฉe Sackville), Viscountess Crosbie (1756 - 1814) was the wife of 2nd Earl of Glandore and daughter of 1st Viscount Sackville. Diana attracted a fair share of criticism as a young woman and had a reputation for gambling and debt, one which was shared by the similarly controversial Duchess of Devonshire.
