Borowy (1916-2004) is one of two Major League pitchers to win ten games for two different teams in one season when he went 10-5 with the New York Yankees and 11-2 for the Chicago Cubs in 1945. He was named The Sporting News 1945 National League Pitcher of the year. After signing with the Yankees in 1939, Hank won ten or more games in his first six seasons earning him an All-Star Game selection and consideration three times for the American League?s Most Valuable Player award. He also had two more ten plus win seasons. During his ten-year career, Borowy pitched for the Yankees (1942-1945), the Chicago Cubs (1945-1948), the Philadelphia Phillies (1949-1950), the Pittsburgh Pirates (1950) and the Detroit Tigers (1950-1951). He is the last Cubs pitcher to win a World Series game when he beat the Tigers in Game 6 of the 1945 World Series, but the Cubs lost in Game 7. He did, however, win a World Series in 1943 with the Yankees.
