Desmonts in OE Moroccan leather w/gilt titling, 8vo (9x7?), very good +, n.a., 528pp. Very light age toning to the text block paper seems to be this tomes only flaw. This was once the cookbook Martha Emily Carter Morrow who was the wife of Confederate Lt. Daniel Foust Morrow (Co. G 28th NC Inf.) with the entire chain of provenance penciled in on the front free fly-leaf. There is a packet of Ephemera found in the book now in an archival bag. The Morrow family was and probably still is from the Alamance County area of North Carolina. Their genealogy is readily available online. There are a few handwritten recipes within the book itself also. A selection of nearly 3000 thoroughly tested and choice recipes. Founded upon the principles of economy and adapted to use of private families. Original and selected during a period of over thirty years? practical housekeeping. ? from an advertisement in the rear of the book. (Also on the title page.) A beautiful and quite meaningful Capture of Tyme ? quite the distinctive book indeed!
