STAR TREK 6: Undiscovered Country (dvd) and similar items

Brand new factory sealed dvd. It is a darker Trek with less bantering between cast regulars and none of the buffoonery. The story unfolds with Kirk and Dr. McCoy on trial for murder and sentenced to an ice planet while Spock, in command of the Enterprise, enocounters treachery and deceit as loyalties are divided by peace proceedings. There are Shakespearan touches in the dialogue and a sense of tragic doom about its characters that even reaches out and touches Captain Kirk, forced to face his prejudice against Klingons. The Enterprise is assigned to establish contact with Klingon leader David Warner, who wants to make peace with the Federation. The Klingon Empire faces collapse after the explosion of a mining moon. Sulu turns up as Captain of his own starship, the Excelsior. The film was released only weeks after the death of the series creator Gene Roddenberry.
