Lance Henricksen and Ellen Barkin double-cross petty criminal Mickey Rourke in New Orleans during a heist. John takes the rap and goes to prison. He is ugly and deformed and kind of looks like the 'Elephant Man'. While in prison, he volunteers for a reconstructive surgery experiment by Forest Whitaker as the plastic surgeon. Thanks to the sympathetic surgeon, he receives a new face. John is finally released on parole and seeks to get even with those who set him up with his new cover.
