He replaced original lead singer Lou Gramm after the latter had parted company in 1990. Edwards, a veteran singer who'd done a tour of duty with Montrose and was then the frontman for another Atlantic act, Wild Horses. Unusual Heat peaked at No. 117 on the Billboard 200 chart, with two singles released from the album, Lowdown and Dirty, which was a No. 4 Mainstream Rock chart hit and I'll Fight For You.
