Item description
FEATHER IN THE WIND
by Beverly Butler
New York: Dodd, Mead Company, (1965).
First edition, first printing.
Dust jacket art by Russ Hoover.
Butler wrote the trice film adapted novel GHOST CAT, and won several awards for her other novels, including the Clara Ingram Judson Award for LIGHT A SINGLE CANDLE.
An historical novel set in 1832 in Wisconsin near Fort Winnebago and the Fox-Wisconsin river portage.
The novel is filled with period detail, and features a coming-of-age young lady, a young Scotsman, a blind orphan, warring Sauk Indians, cavalry men, a strict father, and horses.
Former owner's small address label to the upper front end-paper, else very nearly fine in green linen with black titles to the spine; in a price-clipped near fine dust jacket with a short shelf-edge tear, and with slight wear to the lower spine end.
