A novel portraying a Mexican-American family in a prejudiced 1940s Los Angeles, with the central story around their son who brings them wealth and troubles with his boxing career.
Adapted to the sports-noir film titled THE RING starring Lalo Rios, Rita Moreno, Jack Elam and Gerald Mohr. One of the first Hollywood films to depict discrimination against Mexicans in Los Angeles.
Several of Irving Shulman's novels were adapted to successful films, including AMBOY DUKES, and CRY TOUGH. He also wrote the film treatment for REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE.
Covers lightly dust-soiled, spine slightly tanned, minor stain spot to outer page fore-edges, mild fore-edge page crimps, else very good in creamy-apricot linen with burgundy embossed titles to the front cover and to the spine; lacking a dust jacket.
