PHOTOGRAPH
OF
Early Film Theater Owner/Manager
Francis Valuskis
A smiling facial portrait of "Frank" Valuskis seated in his Ford Model T (circa 1920) car with "Francis Valuskis Company" painted on the door.
Valuskis leased theaters around the Los Angeles area running talking pictures with his invention called Valuskitone.
The Valuskis Theatre was opened September 18, 1928 on Beach Blvd. in Buena Park.
"During the 1930s, Valuskis began building, managing and leasing several
community movie theaters in both Los Angeles and Orange county.
In addition to operations in Bell, Los Angeles, and Buena Park, Valuskis
also jointly owned the Norwalk, Downey, and Meralta theaters."--The Downey Patriot.
He also operated a theater in Willowbrook in the late 1930s.
Upper portion of the photograph has curled with a horizontal crease, otherwise very good.
