Item description
THE BOGEY MAN
by George Plimpton
New York and Evanston: Harper Row, Publishers, (1968).
First edition.
Inscribed and SIGNED by Plimpton to the front endpaper.
Illustrated with 16 striking black-and-white photographic plates.
A now-classic chronicle of the well-known journalist, sports writer, literary author, and actor's attempt to play professional golf on the PGA Tour during the Nicklaus and Palmer era of the 1960s.
Plimpton became famous for participatory journalism, in which he participated in professional sporting events and then recorded the experience. This book is the most famous of his recorded events.
A lovely well-preserved copy.
A hint of fading to the shelf edges, else very nearly fine in fresh green linen with silver embossed golf-hole-flag to the front cover and to the spine, with titles in black to the spine; in a very good plus dust jacket with a half-inch tear to the upper and lower spine edges, and a small wear spot to the upper edge of the front panel; original $5.95 price still intact to the front inner flap.
Octavo; 304 pages.
A presentable golf collectible INSCRIBED and SIGNED by Plimpton!
