A very fine copy in stapled wrappers as new with a fine unused envelope with unrusted staples 32 pages. Soft cover in wrappers. 7-3/4 x 5. Inches. This was Burroughs' attempt to organize a youth club by the creator of ?Tarzan of The Apes? This booklet was included in the collection of Danton Burroughs, who was the grandson of Edgar Rice Burroughs. This is an exceptional copy of a rare booklet that Burroughs sent out to young people in an attempt to start a sort of Boy Scouts-like organization, but never was realized due mainly to business matters. Most of these that were sent out perished; many were destroyed in a fire caused by spontaneous combustion of nitrate films in the Burroughs warehouse. Some survived but most ended up smoke damaged and the company issued a little label explained why with the books sold from the warehouse were smoke damaged. (I have never encountered a ?Tarzan Clans? with the Burroughs fire label and my guess is that there just were not many left for the general public.) Published in 1939, this is one of the very exceptional and rare copies to be found in this kind of condition with an original envelope. PThis copy is as good as it gets.
