Are you a baker and if so, what's your specialty?

My granddaughter will be 13 next week and she has developed a great interest in baking so her Grandma & Grandpa are going all out and buying her a nice collection of baking ware to start her out.. many of these items actually are being included!

I love to cook, but I’m not a baker. My Mom used to make the best Apple Pie ever. I still have her old pie pan and recipe, but I didn’t inherit her baking skills. Great list, thanks for including me.

Hi Robin & starry Jan :) My first pie crust ever, many many years ago was a total disaster! I learned to make an awesome crust and I am a pretty good baker.. at least they say so. I bake massive amounts of treats at Christmas for my hubbies work place.. banana bread, cookies and candy nutty popcorn. I also make mini & full size bundt cakes, pies and other misc yummies :D

Hi Vintage, thanks! Yes, her interest started with baking cookies with Grandma :D She told me she’s working on making and perfecting her own cookies recipe and using her secret ingredients (which she shared with me) Sounded interesting, hmmmm ;) Promised I won’t tell :D She is going to LOVE this gift I’m putting together… maybe the best ever!

This is such a sweet list (pun intended). It’s unique and a wonderful forum for our Bonanza community to share and chat, and of course promote sales. Great idea Audi. I personally prefer baking to cooking. Eat dessert first!!! …… from quadrina. :)

Thank you for including my Springform pan.
I think I like the parchment paper the best. Now that I’m sugar-free, I don’t do much baking, but it comes in handy for my no-gluten vegan pizza.

Hi quadrina, thanks and fun pun :D I like dessert first, too and I enjoy the chat ;) Hi QM, gotta have those in the kitchen! My sis is gluten free (celiac) my brother is sugar-free (diabetic) and my niece is vegan. Definitely have to consider many factors when I’m cooking and baking! I’m making 4 types of manicotti tomorrow for my brother’s birthday and trying to come up with a sugar-free cake.. easy to find recipes but taste is the key, for gluten-free as well. Gonna be a busy day, tomorrow for sure! LOL

Hi Nancy, looks like a delicious book! I want to follow-up on that cake for diabetics, you may be interested. I ended up making a brownie bottom cheesecake. After many reviews of the brownies, Pillsbury sugar-free was the most favorable one. It was delicious! I used a simple 2 step cheesecake recipe from Philadelphia cream cheese.. the cream cheese had 1gm of sugar, the cool whip had 2gm and I reduced sugar to 1/4 cup. Total sugar was 53gm. Considering 8 slices, the amount was very low. The cheesecake was a huge success!

Ooops Nancy, I didn’t mean “you might be interested” LOL! I meant the general public, if any diabetics may be. ;)
