Our landlord called and said that he has been unable to get clearance for us to house a limitless number of sick and infirm animals, so it looks like we'll have to put the BPE on hold for now. Thanks to everyone who sent in their animals, we will get them mailed back to you ASAP.
Seems like we always have such rotten luck with the new features we launch on April 1...
Successful business is built on identifying opportunity and becoming the leader of a niche.
When it comes to Bonanza, this can be difficult, because our sellers span such a wide breadth of categories that picking one niche to focus on can be challenging. But after talking with family and friends, we've realized there is one crucial niche that no business has yet to fill.
Today we're excited to announce that we will be closing down the Fashion Exchange, and replacing it with the Bonanza Pet Exchange (BPE). We're confident that the BPE will offer an experience unlike any other you'll find online.
Every year, millions of pets are given up for adoption for a variety of reasons: sometimes the owner is moving, sometimes the pet's maintenance is too expensive, sometimes it causes allergies.
But often times, the pet just loses its novelty. What is an owner supposed to do when the same hamster that put on such a show at the pet store gets home, and suddenly wants to do nothing more than sleep in a burrow all day?
Another common problem is old pets. These indiscriminately peeing, sluggish animals often bear little resemblance to the plucky pet you picked from the adoption center 10 years ago.
You don't want a pet that stinks, squawks, or salivates on the sofa. We'll take care of matching your pet to the perfect new owner (or lab). Depending on the type of pet, you may earn up to $18 for your trouble. Oh and did we mention that we'll cover your shipping costs for free?
We want to build the Bonanza Pet Exchange into the top destination for all unwanted pets. As of launch, we are starting with two dogs that wore out their welcome amongst Bonanza friends and family. But with pets, like other goods -- we want to have a broad selection of "everything but the ordinary." Whether you've got a fruit bat, naked cat, or sewer rat -- it's suddenly simple to turn your weird animal into quick cash.
Well, you're not going to walk it here, are you?
Some pets become as close to you as family. Don't trade these pets for cash. But for the rest of the pets out there... try the Bonanza Pet Exchange today!

Bonanza Pet-in-A-Box… Hahahaha.
Better than pet rocks or Chia Pets.
For all those like me who will want to advertise this exciting service via their Facebook banner, a free graphic for you:

April Fool’s.
For Real….I knew this couldn’t be something Bonz would get involved in…. Then again, maybe just for a day? NO~
But on the Home page? Those people won’t know it’s a joke.
Well I knew it was fake as soon as I saw the banner with the alligator haha
Do you think that I can ship my snapping turtle & alligator in the same package?
Every day should start with a good laugh! Good job!
LOL Happy April Fool’s Day!
I have some grandkids that acted like Monkeys yesterday, maybe they could bring me a couple of bucks?
i’m sure a lot of animal rights groups will appreciate this joke
GREAT ONE! I was hoping you would continue with Bonanza’a FANTASTIC April 1st Hoax – this one pass’s with flying colors!!!!
Not liking the “Joke”….. Not one bit. Too many abusers and cruel people who would want to actually participate…. I do not see the humor.
I just put my beloved dog Bailey down due to cancer.(She was 14). I find this “joke” very offensive.
Oh how I hate starting the morning crying my eyes out!
Take this down?? Please???
Yeah really sick joke and im debating deleting my account and making this public what kind of individuals are running this site!
I am a animal advocate and save many this is OFFENSIVE! losers
Not your best effort IMHO.
It is still up……..
In very poor taste! VERY POOR TASTE!
I can’t believe some the responses on here…nobody can take a joke these days. It’s April Fools, people. Too bad Bonanza can’t sell a sense of humor. Very funny and the animal descriptions make it better!
Lovin’ it!
April Fool’s!!
I agree with Luke. Get a sense of humour. Yes, some people abuse pets. Someone abuses everything, but that doesn’t mean that Bonanza is in favour of it.
When Bizzy was the joke, and she was a relatively harmless figment of our imagination, we had people ‘disgusted, alienated, offended, etc.’ and threatening to leave over it. Really? An avatar, a fake person on your computer – get a grip.
To the Peeps who agree with this…. Where is the humor in telling gullible people to mail animals… PEOPLE DO STUPID THINGS LIKE THAT!! There is no humor there… I was OK with Bizzy… stupid… and a LONG TIME AGO…
And to even JOKE about mailing off an animal because it has ottlived it’s usefulness is abhorable. People dump them and throw them out of car windows, and torture them all the time… This helps to encourage.
I thought MAYBE just MAYBE these guys had grown into their Angel Funding, and Million users. A sense of humor is for funny things…. Not to suggest something STUPID that a STUPID person would actually do. I wonder if the folks from their Angel Fund saw this?? Joke is on them I guess….
I’m certain I may make some enemies by additional comment on the “April Fools” page, but I firmly believe there are times in one’s life when core values trump all else. I stated I found the page in very poor taste, and I might add, definitely not advantageous to Bonanza’s reputation. As someone who has adopted many abandoned and abused animals over the years and who has countless family and friends who have also done so, I found the page highly offensive. I was further horrified to see it show up on my Facebook page. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize it was on my Facebook page until this afternoon. At which point, I immediately took it down, but not in time to prevent some people from clicking in and viewing the page. I received private messages from some who viewed the page and they were not happy! I have spent a great deal of time encouraging family and friends to come to Bonanza to shop…in one case bringing on board a seller who does quite well on Bonanza. That seller is now questioning whether he wants to continue on Bonanza. Others who viewed the page ( including three people who work with animal rescue groups), informed me that even if it was intended as a joke, it most assuredly was not funny, and they questioned the integrity of the website, and would not shop there again. So, not only have you disappointed me, you have put me in a very difficult position.
SW Americana… If you make enemies… you have also made a friend. I have never been so offended, and embarrassed to be associated with something like this. I spent MONTHS selling this place to people, so they can see this?? You HAVE to be KIDDING ….. Right??
I see things every day about “DISPOSABLE Pets…..” And these guys are joking about it….. I am teetering on leaving…. The really sad thing is this…. The response to anyone that says so…. gets a nice message that says…. “WE don’t want you to leave….. BUT… Have a nice LIFE”
Its a parody on a life issue. The most famous comedians in history have made many of us smile about otherwise painful issues. It shows a silly personality of the writer. Yes, its outrageous!! Its also April 1, and I AM THANKFUL THAT WE STILL HAVE THE FREEDOM TO BE OUTRAGEOUSLY SILLY (OR INAPPROPRIATE) now and then.
And if I remember correctly from past years, the front page part can only be seen by Bonz sellers, that’s my guess anyway. I remember last year when cats were everywhere on every page, even trailing my cursor. LOL.
Boyz, Thanks for the April First shock, the reminder that its okay to make light of life sometimes, and for sharing your quirky personalities with us.
IT IS NOT OK. It is NOT OK. it is not ok….. IT IS WRONG ON ANY AND EVERY LEVEL…..and if I have to start posting pictures of “Sold and Tired of pets” I will.
Anyone who searches www.bonanza.com goes to the front (home) page. That is why the HPL’s are there and this stupid banner. If when a person clicks on the banner they would be taken to a page that says “April Fools” maybe it would not have been so offensive to so many people. As blarney_stone says, it is embarrassing. Yes everyone knows or hopes that it is just an April Fools Day joke, but we don’t have to like it. And I, for one, do not. And I rarely complain about anything.
My idea with the Silver backed Gorillas was better!
There’s a fine line between ’’silly’’ and/or ‘’ill-conceived’’ ~ I find this extremely offensive and not fun or funny at all…it was obviously not well-thought out…there’s a lot better April Fool pranks I could think of, than something that might offend many, many, many potential customers, or members, here…TAKE it DOWN I beg ya’!!!
This is SICK, TWISTED UN-HUMOR…and in ATROCIOUS taste for an April Fool’s Joke…
NOT FUNNY…Too many pets abandoned in real life for you to consider this humor.
How could you? Have you no sensitivity and compassion for all the unwanted pets that you would do this?
It’s only funny if everyone laughs…not laughing here.
I am very upset about this, I am shocked, embarrassed and I love April Fools Jokes however this is no joking matter. You will probably get placed on every Wall of Shame in all vets and rescue shelters. jmho
So relieved that you took this down. Sometimes the best course of action is just to pick up your rubber chicken and call it a day.
This was very bad. But, it is not as bad as the half naked child that used to greet once I logged in. I think the boyz have sick and twisted view of many things in life.
please pull this post. It has been here long enough….and enough people have laughed…. and cried.
